Tasting notes
Fine pale gold colour.
The nose reveals a rich, powerful, buttery wine with development still in hand.
In the mouth, the wine is very powerful with strongly-marked minerality thanks to a very high level of active limestone in the soil.
Very long persistence in the mouth.
Best drunk at 3-8 years.
Terroir
Quaternary clay-limestone soil (Middle Bathonian).

Grape variety: Chardonnay
Planting density: 8,000 plants per hectare
Average yield: 30 hl/ha
Picking by hand
Soil working, no herbicides.
Vinification
Direct pressing, gentle settling, alcoholic and malolactic fermentations in oak barrels (30% new, 30% 1 year old, 30% 2 years old, 10% four years old).
18 months' elevage in barrel. Racking, then light filtration before bottling.
No finings.
